It’s easy to set up a Desktop shortcut to open a new e-mail message quickly. You can then use the shortcut on your “Quick Launch Toolbar” and create a Keyboard Shortcut.
In Windows 8 “Windows Explorer” (where you view the list of files on your computer) is now called “File Explorer” and it looks a little different. When you open your folders in “Documents” and then you open a sub folder/location, the view may be different.
Standardize the “View Type” (or Layout). We recommend you choose a view that you are most comfortable with (most people prefer details or icons). The “Detail” view will allow you to see more folders on one page than other available views.
In Windows 8 the Quick Launch Toolbar does not appear by default. By following a few steps in this tutorial you can bring it back and use it to quickly launch programs using shortcuts.
When you first start using Windows 8, navigation can be a bit tricky. One of the ways to save time and make navigation easier, is to create a keyboard shortcut for the programs you use the most.
On some laptops there is a button in the center of the keyboard (between G, H, and B keys). This button or nub can be used in place of a mouse or touchpad. If you accidentally hit it while typing, it may be beneficial for you to turn it off if you do not wish to use it. The instructions may not be exactly the same on all laptops, but this tutorial will point you in the right direction. In this example we are using a Dell laptop running Windows 7.
